ABOUT SHOCKWAVE™
Shockwave Ventures™ was founded by entrepreneur and inventor, Josh Lessing. Prior to Shockwave™ Josh founded and exited Root AI, an AgTech Robotics company, backed by First Round Capital and Jason Calacanis. Before Root AI Josh was the founding employee at Soft Robotics Inc., where he led the commercialization of Harvard’s soft robotics patent portfolio, inventing products which can now be found at Procter & Gamble, General Mills, Cargill, Domino’s, Tyson Foods and many others.
Josh has a Sc.B. in Chemistry from Brown and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from MIT. He also was a postdoc for world-renowned professor George Whitesides (founder of Genzyme) in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard. Over his career, he has authored 11 academic publications, has been awarded over 40 patents, and has been interviewed by numerous media outlets including CNBC, Forbes, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Wired, Fast Company, TechCrunch, Business Insider, and the Boston Globe.
